History: The region now occupied by Quintana Roo was one of the most populated of the ancient Mayan Empire. Currently survive multiple ethnic groups and archaeological sites among which Chacchoben, Chakanbakán, Chamax, Coba, Dzibanché, Ichpaatán, Kohunlich, Muyil, Oxtankah, Tankah, Tulum, Tupac, Xel-Ha and Xcaret.

State Symbols

State Symbols: Quintana Roo has two symbols main: His shield and his hymn.


Shield: It is composed of five elements, which are:

Rising Sun with eight spokes of light, Representing the eight municipalities in the state. (Previously only 7-rays and 7 municipalities)

Glyph of a yellow snail, Which represents the interior of the earth and the sea. Yellow symbolizes the south among the Maya.

Five-pointed white star it symbolizes the rebirth of the day at the cardinal point of this.

Three green triangles representing the richness of the jungle of Quintana Roo.

Mayan Glyph of wind, like the green letter TRepresents the hurricanes, Quintana Roo because exposure to them.

The colors of the shield, the Mayas represent cardinal red, Eastern, yellow, southern, white, northern, black, west. Moreover, green is the sacred color of the Maya.
